Bus Service, 2010-2011

The Mediated Learning Academy has contracted with ThirdWave Bus Services to run buses from the North Shore and from Richmond to bring students to MLA. The bus drivers have experience with children with differing abilities and all ages. The buses will bring students to both the Main School and the Annex.

Fees:

The bus service will start again on the first day of school (please remember that the first day’s hours are 8:45 – 11:-00 am, the bus will leave by 11:15).  The cost of the service has increased slightly due to rising gas costs.  Bus costs for the school year will be a fixed rate of $190.00 per month for 11 months.  The service at this rate is heavily subsidized by the school.

The cost to parents per YEAR is $2,090.00. This can be divided into 11 monthly payments of $190.00 each, dated 1st of each month from September to July.

Please note – it does not matter how many school days there are in any month or how many times you use the bus.  This is an ANNUAL commitment.  Please know that the costs charged to parents do not cover the entire cost of the bus service.

Absences:

Please call Thirdwave Bus Service (604) 247-1221. Slowly and clearly leave your child’s name, their school’s name, and bus stop name, the night before, or that morning if you know your child will be absent.  Their machine will pick up the message.

Timing:

Due to time constraints the bus can only wait up to 2 minutes at each stop before leaving for the next stop on the route. Please arrive 5 minutes before pick up time. Look for Yellow and Black school bus.
